Ishan Uday Scholarship 2026 – Overview
Ishan Uday is a special scholarship scheme launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for students of the North Eastern Region (NER), aimed at promoting higher education and supporting children from economically weaker sections of the North East. Applications for the 2026–27 session are open from 16 September 2026 to 31 October 2026.
Under the scheme, a total of 10,000 fresh scholarships are disbursed every year among NER students pursuing general degree courses as well as technical and professional courses, including medical and paramedical courses. The scholarship is paid directly into the student’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
✅ Up to ₹93,600 per year! Technical, medical and paramedical students receive ₹7,800 per month (₹93,600/year), while general degree students receive ₹5,400 per month (₹64,800/year) — renewable for the full duration of the course subject to satisfactory performance.

Objectives of Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme
•To provide equal opportunities for higher studies in the North Eastern Region.
•To increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in the NE Region.
•To focus more on professional education in the NE Region.
•Optimum utilisation of the NER Budgetary Allocation, with 10,000 fresh scholarships every year since the 2014–15 academic session.

✖Students whose parents’ income exceeds ₹4.5 lakh per annum.
