The SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2026 is a major scholarship initiative run by the SBI Foundation, the CSR arm of the State Bank of India, aimed at helping talented students from economically weaker families continue their education. The scholarship covers school students (Class 9–12), undergraduates and postgraduates at NIRF Top 300 or NAAC ‘A’ institutions, MBBS students, IIT and IIM students, and students pursuing master’s programmes abroad at QS Top 200 universities.

For 2026, the scholarship aims to support 25,707 meritorious students from economically weaker families across India, backed by a total scholarship fund of ₹100 crore. Awards range from ₹15,000 for school students to as much as ₹15,00,000 for students pursuing postgraduate studies abroad.

Eligibility Criteria – Category-wise



1. School Students (Class 9–12)

Studying in Classes 9 to 12 anywhere across India.
Minimum 7.5 CGPA or 75% marks in the previous academic year (65% for SC/ST, 60% for PwBD).
Annual family income ≤ ₹3,00,000.

2. Undergraduate & Postgraduate

Pursuing UG/PG at a Top 300 NIRF (Overall) or NAAC ‘A’ & above accredited institution.
Minimum 7.5 CGPA or 75% marks in the previous academic year (65% for SC/ST, 60% for PwBD).
Gross annual family income ≤ ₹6,00,000.

3. Medical (MBBS)

Currently pursuing MBBS at AIIMS or a Top 50 NIRF Medical College.
Valid NEET scorecard from the current or previous academic year.
Min. 7.5 CGPA/75% marks (65% SC/ST, 60% PwBD); family income ≤ ₹6,00,000.

4. IIT & IIM Students

Studying at one of the 23 IITs (valid JEE Advanced scorecard) or 22 IIMs (valid CAT scorecard) across India.
Min. 7.5 CGPA/75% marks (65% SC/ST, 60% PwBD); annual family income ≤ ₹6,00,000.

5. Overseas Studies

Indian Nationals only, pursuing or holding a valid offer letter for a PG (or higher) programme at a QS Top 200 university.
Valid GRE / GMAT / MCAT / LNAT / LSAT scorecard from the current or previous year.
Min. 7.5 CGPA/75% marks (65% SC/ST, 60% PwBD); annual family income ≤ ₹6,00,000.
What is NIRF? NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) is a ranking system introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to assess and rank higher education institutions across the country.

Academic Records: Marksheets from the previous and latest year (Class 10 / 12 / semester marksheets, as applicable).
Identity Proof: Government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar) plus a recent passport-size photograph.
Financial Documents: Family income proof (income certificate / Form 16A / salary slips) and a bank passbook (SBI preferred).
Admission Proof: Bonafide/admission proof from your institution and the latest fee receipt or fee structure.
Personal Documents: Caste certificate for reserved categories and a home/family photograph of the applicant.
Additional Documents: Category-specific documents such as entrance scorecards, offer letters, or a disability certificate.




Selection Process

Once the application window closes, all submitted applications go through verification, evaluation, and selection based on the applicable scholarship guidelines. The complete process – from application verification and evaluation to final selection and scholarship disbursement – may take approximately 6 months after the application deadline.
