SSC CGL 2026 – Overview

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026 (CGLE 2026). SSC will fill approximately 12,256 vacancies across various Group B and Group C posts in different Ministries, Departments, and Organizations of the Government of India. Online applications are open from 21 May 2026 till 22 June 2026.

SSC CGL is one of India’s largest and most prestigious central government recruitment exams. Posts include Inspector of Income Tax, Sub-Inspector CBI/NIA, Assistant Section Officer, Junior Statistical Officer, Auditor, Tax Assistant, and many more — covering Pay Level 4 to Pay Level 8.

Fee exemption: Women candidates and SC/ST/PwBD/ESM applicants are fully exempted from the ₹100 application fee. Final-year graduates may also apply, provided they hold the degree by 1 August 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or Institute. Final-year students may apply but must possess the degree by 1 August 2026.
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Must have at least 60% marks in Mathematics at Class 12 level OR Statistics as a subject at Degree level.
Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer: Desirable qualifications include CA, CMA, CS, M.Com, or MBA (Finance).

SSC CGL Tier-II Exam Pattern

Tier-II has three papers with different requirements:

Paper-I – Compulsory for ALL posts

Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning & General Intelligence, English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness + Computer Knowledge Test (qualifying) + Data Entry Speed Test (qualifying). Negative marking: 1 mark per wrong answer (Sections I, II, III).

Paper-II – Only for JSO & Statistical Investigator Grade-II

Statistics paper. Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.

Paper-III – Only for AAO & Assistant Accounts Officer

Finance & Economics paper. Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.

How to Apply for SSC CGL 2026

Applications are online only via the official SSC portal or the my SSC mobile app. You must complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website first (old OTR won’t work).

Click the Application Form link in the Important Links section below. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) using your mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar-based authentication.

Log in with OTR credentials and select Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026 from the active recruitments list.

Fill in personal, educational, and post-preference details. The application module will capture a live photograph — sit in good light, without a cap or spectacles.

Upload scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10–20 KB).

Choose 3 preferred exam centres within the same SSC Region, in order of priority.

Pay the application fee of ₹100/- via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Card. Women/SC/ST/PwBD/ESM: no fee.

Submit and download the confirmation page for future reference. Applications without fee payment (where applicable) will be marked Incomplete and rejected.
