The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam 2026 to fill approximately 2,536 Group ‘C’ vacancies, including Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) positions across various central ministries and departments. Candidates who have passed Class 12th and are between 18 and 27 years of age can apply online through the official portal from September 7, 2026, to October 7, 2026. Selection will be conducted via Tier-I and Tier-II Computer Based Examinations followed by a Skill/Typing test.

SSC CHSL Notification 2026 – Overview
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination, 2026, inviting applications for approximately 2536 Group C posts of Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO) in various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India and Constitutional/ Statutory Bodies. 12th pass candidates can apply online from 7 September 2026 to 7 October 2026.
Selection is through a two-tier Computer Based Examination (Tier-I and Tier-II) followed by Document Verification. Marks scored across multiple shifts will be normalized as per the Commission’s formula to determine the final merit list and cut-off.

Educational Qualification
Appearing candidates may also apply, but the qualifying result must be declared on or before 7 October 2026 — a result marked “under process” does not meet the requirement. Candidates must also meet nationality requirements (Indian citizen, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or person of Indian origin migrated with intent to settle permanently, subject to an eligibility certificate).
Age Limit (as on 1 August 2026)
Candidates must be between 18 to 27 years, i.e. born not before 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008.

Payment mode: BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay Credit or Debit cards. Last date for fee payment: 8 October 2026 (11:00 PM).
SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2026
Selection is through Computer Based Examinations (CBE) conducted in two tiers:
Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)
Objective, multiple-choice questions only. Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.
Tier-II (Computer Based Examination)
It is mandatory to qualify all sections of Tier-II. Negative marking: 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I & II. Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test) is qualifying in nature.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026
Visit the official SSC website ssc.gov.in or the mySSC mobile app and complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new portal — OTR from the old site is not valid.
Log in with your registration credentials and select “Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination, 2026” under Live Exams.
Fill in personal and educational details, choose up to three exam centres in order of priority, and upload the required photograph/documents.
Pay the application fee: ₹100/- (UR/EWS/OBC) online, before 8 October 2026 — women, SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates are exempted.
Submit the form and take a printout of the completed application for future reference.
