Branch Postmaster (BPM)

Manages day-to-day postal and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) operations of a Branch Post Office. Must arrange suitable accommodation for the Branch Post Office at own cost and reside in the post village.

Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

Assists the BPM, handles postal and IPPB work, and may perform combined BPM duties when required. Must reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned Branch Post Office.

Dak Sevak

Handles mail, delivery, postal transactions, and assistance in Post Offices, Sorting Offices, Mail Offices, or Delivery Centres. Must reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the attached office.

India Post has notified 23,757 tentative GDS vacancies under Schedule-II, July 2026, across all postal circles in India.

Assam Circle has 414 vacancies, including 322 Assamese/Asomiya posts, 77 Bengali posts, and 15 Bodo posts.

Applicants must pass Class 10 from a recognised Board with passing marks in Mathematics and English, and must have studied the prescribed local language up to Class 10.

The age limit is 18 to 40 years as on 21 September 2026. Upper-age relaxation applies to SC/ST (5 yrs), OBC (3 yrs), and PwBD (10 yrs). No relaxation for EWS.

The last date to submit the online application and applicable fee is 21 September 2026, up to 5 PM.

The fee is ₹100. All female, SC, ST, PwBD, and transwomen applicants are exempted from payment.
