Indian Army SSC Officer Recruitment 2026 – Overview

The Indian Army has released two employment notifications for the recruitment of 379 Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer posts under the 68th SSC (Tech-Men) and 68th SSC (Tech-Women) – January 2027 batch at the Pre-Commissioning Training Academy (PCTA). Online applications are open from 8 July 2026 to 6 August 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineering graduates and final year engineering students (both men and women) to join the Indian Army as commissioned officers. The recruitment is open for candidates aged 20 to 27 years as on 1 April 2027. Additionally, widows of Defence Personnel can apply under special provisions.

✅ Final Year Students Eligible: Engineering students in the final year of their degree course are also eligible to apply, provided they can submit proof of passing with all marksheets by 1 April 2027 and the degree certificate within 12 weeks of commencement of training.

Eligibility Criteria – Indian Army SSC Officer 2026

Educational Qualification

•SSC Tech (Men & Women): Candidates who have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course OR are in the final year of an Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply.
•Widows of Defence Personnel (SSCW Tech-68): BE/B.Tech in any technical stream.
•Widows of Defence Personnel (SSCW Non-Tech-125): Graduation in any discipline.

Age Limit

20 to 27 years as on 1 April 2027  |  Born between: 1 April 2000 to 31 March 2007 (both days inclusive)

Nationality

Candidate must be: (i) A citizen of India, OR (ii) A subject of Nepal, OR (iii) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) or Vietnam with intention of permanently settling in India (Certificate of Eligibility required except for Gorkha subjects of Nepal).
