The Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India has introduced the Census 2027 Self Enumeration process, allowing residents of Assam to submit their household and individual details online for the first time. Available from 2nd August 2026 to 16th August 2026 via the official portal se.census.gov.in, any responsible adult family member can register using a mobile number to complete the digital census form. Upon successful submission, a unique Self Enumeration ID (SEID) is generated, which must be shared with the visiting Census Enumerator during the House-listing Operation starting 17th August 2026 for verification.

Census 2027 Self Enumeration – Overview
The Census of India 2027 will cover the entire population of the country and is planned to be conducted primarily through digital methods. As part of this initiative, enumerators will collect census data using a dedicated mobile application, and for the first time, citizens can also complete self-enumeration online through a dedicated web portal.
The Self Enumeration (SE) facility for the first phase of Census 2027 has commenced in Assam from 2 August 2026, enabling citizens to provide household and individual information online through se.census.gov.in. The facility remains available until 16 August 2026, ahead of the House-listing Operation and Housing Census starting 17 August 2026, during which trained enumerators will visit households to collect or confirm the details.

How to Complete Census 2027 Self Enumeration
Visit the official Census Self-Enumeration Portal during the designated period.
Register on the portal by entering your mobile number and completing the registration process.
Verify your mobile number by entering the OTP received on it.
Log in with your registered mobile number and other required credentials.
Enter your household details accurately and carefully.
Provide individual details of all household members covered under Census 2027.
Carefully review all the household and individual details entered, and make corrections if necessary.
Submit the completed self-enumeration form online.
Save the generated Self-Enumeration ID (SEID) for future reference.
Provide the SEID to the Census Enumerator during their subsequent house visit for verification.
