Assam Legislative Assembly Recruitment 2026 – Overview
The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat has released an employment notification for the recruitment of 5 posts – Hindi Reporter, Hindi Translator, Bengali Translator, and Karbi Translator – on a purely temporary (contractual) basis. Eligible graduates with the required language skills can apply online from 10 September 2026 to 24 September 2026.
This is a rare opportunity to work directly within the Assam Legislative Assembly, supporting parliamentary reporting and translation work. The initial term of appointment is 6 months, extendable depending on the necessity of work.

Post-wise Vacancy, Pay & Eligibility
1. Hindi Reporter – 2 Posts
Pay: ₹35,000/- per month
•Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
•Diploma in Hindi Stenography with a qualifying speed of 80 words per minute, plus DTP typewriting (Hindi) from a recognised institution.
•6-month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
•Sound knowledge of Assamese and English language.
•Knowledge/experience in Parliamentary functioning preferred.
2. Hindi Translator – 1 Post
Pay: ₹25,000/- per month
•Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with Hindi as a subject in the course.
•Sound knowledge in Assamese and English literature.
•6-month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
•Knowledge/experience in Parliamentary functioning or Reporting in Hindi newspapers preferred.
3. Bengali Translator – 1 Post
Pay: ₹25,000/- per month
•Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Bengali as a subject in the course.
•Sound knowledge in Assamese, English, and Bengali literature.
•6-month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
•Knowledge/experience in Parliamentary functioning or Reporting in Bengali newspapers preferred.
4. Karbi Translator – 1 Post
Pay: ₹25,000/- per month
•Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
•Sound knowledge in Assamese, English, and Karbi language/literature.
•6-month Diploma/Certificate in Computer Application.
•Knowledge/experience in Parliamentary functioning or Reporting in Karbi newspapers preferred.

Age Limit & Term of Appointment
Applicants must be not less than 21 years or more than 40 years of age as on 01-01-2026. Age is calculated based on the School/Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card/Certificate issued by a recognized Board/Council/School or other Government document.

ℹ Term of Appointment: The initial appointment is for 6 months and may be extended for a subsequent period depending on the necessity of work.
Selection Process
1.Shortlisting: The Assembly Secretariat prepares a shortlist of eligible candidates based on prescribed eligibility criteria.
2.Speed Test (Hindi Reporter): Shortlisted candidates for Hindi Reporter must appear for a Speed Test conducted by the Assembly Secretariat.
3.Interview (Translators): Shortlisted candidates for Hindi/Bengali/Karbi Translator posts appear before an Interview Board constituted by the Assembly Secretariat.
