CTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The minimum educational qualifications for CTET are as per NCTE norms. Candidates should check eligibility for their respective level before applying.

For Classes I-V (Primary Stage)

Candidates must meet any one of the following:

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year D.El.Ed.
• Senior Secondary with 45% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year D.El.Ed. (NCTE norms).
• Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed.
• Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed., provided the candidate completes a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education within 2 years of appointment.

For Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage)

Candidates must meet any one of the following:

• Graduation and passed/appearing in 2-year D.El.Ed.
• Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
• Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.El.Ed.
• Graduation with 45% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed. as per NCTE norms.
• Candidates pursuing recognized teacher education programs (NCTE/RCI approved) are also eligible.
