Assam Special TET 2026

AssamCareer: The Government of Assam has officially released the notification for Assam Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) levels. This Special TET is conducted for candidates of Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium, strictly following the NCTE guidelines.

Candidates who are permanent residents of Assam and fulfill the prescribed educational qualifications can apply online for Paper I (Classes I–V) and Paper II (Classes VI–VIII). Qualified candidates will become eligible for Elementary Teacher Recruitment in Assam, subject to meeting other recruitment norms.

Qualifying marks: A candidate is required to score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ ST (Plain)/ OBC/MOBC/ PWD (PH), there will be a relaxation of 5%. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55%.

Exam Centres: The examination will be held in the following districts: Cachar, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Hojai, and Sonitpur. Candidates must select one Centre District.

Residency Requirement: Candidate **must be a permanent resident of Assam

Educational Qualification

Lower Primary (LP – Classes I to V)

• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El.Ed.) OR
• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR
• Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Upper Primary (UP – Classes VI to VIII)

• Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
• At least 50% marks in Graduation and B. Ed. OR
• At least 55% marks in Post Graduation or equivalent grade and three year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. OR
• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed). OR
• Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B. Sc. Ed. OR B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed. OR

📌 Note: Candidates admitted to B.Ed or B.El.Ed before 29 July 2011 are exempted from minimum percentage conditions.
