Sonitpur Gaon Pradhan Recruitment 2026 – Overview
The District Commissioner, Sonitpur, has invited applications for 43 vacant Gaon Pradhan posts under the Tezpur, Dhekiajuli, Thelamara, Chariduar and Naduar Revenue Circles. Eligible residents may submit applications in the prescribed format to the DC’s Office, Sonitpur by 5 PM on 15 September 2026.
The post of Gaon Pradhan was historically known as Gaonburah. Each vacancy is attached to a specified village or group of villages and a Gaon Pradhan lot — applicants must apply only for the area in which they are permanent residents. Selected candidates receive a monthly honorarium of ₹14,000.
⚠ The notification lists the village name, mouza and Gaon Pradhan lot number for every vacancy. Applicants must verify the relevant entry in the official notification before filling in the form.

Eligibility Criteria
•Educational Qualification: Must have passed HSLC or an equivalent examination from an institution or board recognized by the Government of Assam.
•Citizenship & Residence: Must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of the village(s) covered by the Gaon Pradhan lot concerned.
•Property: Must have land or other immovable property in their own name within the concerned area.
•Employment: A serving government employee is not eligible to apply.
•Children: Must not have more than 2 living children (exemption for those who had more before the 19 July 2019 notification, with an affidavit).
•Health & Financial Status: Must be physically fit, of sound mind, not insolvent, and not a defaulter of government dues.
•Political Affiliation: Must not be a member of any political party.
•Character: Must be capable, respectable and held in good standing, with no pending court case or litigation.
👑 Family Preference: Preference may be given to a member of a Gaon Pradhan family, based on the Mouzadar’s opinion and a supporting certificate attached to the application.

•HSLC admit card or pass certificate as age proof.
•Land record showing property in the applicant’s own name.
•Certificate of experience in social work.
•Three recent passport-size photographs.
•Mouzadar’s opinion certificate, if claiming Gaon Pradhan family preference.
•Up-to-date Bakijai loan clearance certificate.
•Affidavit regarding the two-child condition.
