SAMARTH Admission Portal
In a bid to streamline the admission process for Under Graduate Programmes in all Higher Education Institutes of Assam, Govt. of Assam had launched a common online admission portal called SAMARTH from the academic session 2024 – 2025. SAMARTH Admission Portal facilitates the admission process of BA, BCom, BSc, etc in online mode as per New Education Policy 2020 in Assam. A similar initiative has been taken by the Government of Assam for higher secondary first year admission by launching the DARPAN portal.
| Students will get six options for program selection either in the same Higher Educational Institution (University/Colleges) or in different Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) (University/Colleges). |
“Samarth” is an initiative by the Ministry of Education started in 2019, under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology NMEICT-II (now NMEICT-III), with an aim to enable the universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through a digital framework for planning, management, delivery, and monitoring of services for students, staff, and other stakeholders. Under the project, the HEIs are provided with a fully managed, cloud based, comprehensive ERP that is custom built for HEIs of the country.

| Applicants who are permanent residents of Assam must answer “Yes” to the “Do you have domicile of Assam?” question and are required to upload one of the specified documents in the PRC field. This change is mandatory. It is important for all students to be aware that in certain colleges, they are required to register on the college’s portal as well. Once students have submitted their applications through the SAMARTH portal, they may need to complete the registration process on the respective college’s portal in order to secure their admission. |
The students aspiring to take admissions in all the government and aided colleges of Assam and universities can now use this integrated admission platform called Assam State Higher Education Admission Portal to get admitted in the desired course and institution. Students would now not have to move from place to place for submitting admission forms.
Further, the students registering themselves in the portal can apply in ten colleges of his/ her choice. The admission would be given in the college and course of the choice of the student on the basis of merit. Apart from being convenient the portal would also save the money of the students.

Assam Admission Fee Waiver Scheme
Students should note that the well-known fee waiver scheme of the Government of Assam will be provided only to those students who will take admissions through the SAMARTH Admission Portal. As per the official notification, the fee waiver scheme of the Assam Government will be linked to SAMARTH. As such all deserving students can avail fee waiver only when the students apply through the SAMARTH platform. We urge all students to use SAMARTH online admission portal to take admission into the various colleges and universities of Assam.

How to Apply for Assam College Online Admission?
So, starting from 2024 – 2025 academic session, Govt. of Assam has abolished the old admission process for UG admission. All the students who have passed Higher Secondary final examination now have to apply online through Samarth Portal for Bachelor Degree courses.
Once, online application process is over, students can take admission in his college of choice as per merit list. The Samarth Online Admission Process has been elaborated below.
