The ST Scholarship Assam 2026 has been officially announced by the Directorate of Tribal Affairs (Plain), Assam, for the 2026–2027 academic session. This scheme provides Pre-Matric (Classes 9 to 10) and Post-Matric (Class 11 to Post-Graduation) financial assistance to students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category. To be eligible, the student’s annual family income must not exceed ₹2.5 Lakh, and they must possess an Aadhaar-linked bank account. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online via the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) starting 6th July 2026 until the final deadline on 6th October 2026.

ST Scholarship Assam 2026 – Overview

The Directorate of Tribal Affairs (Plain), Assam has released the official notification for the Assam ST Scholarship Scheme 2026 for the academic session 2026–2027. These scholarships are Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Assam. Applications are submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in from 6 July 2026 to 6 October 2026.

These scholarships are available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the State Government of Assam to ST students who are permanently settled in Assam. Eligible students must have a family income of not more than ₹2.5 lakh per annum from all sources and should not be receiving any other scholarship.

⚠ Important: Scholarships are awarded by the State/UT to which the applicant actually belongs (Domicile State). Assam ST students must apply on the NSP as residents of Assam. Students must NOT be receiving any other scholarship to be eligible.

Eligibility Criteria – Pre-Matric ST Scholarship Assam 2026 (Class IX & X)

•Applicant must belong to a Scheduled Tribe (ST) as specified in relation to the State of Assam (Domicile State).

•Student must be studying in a Government School or a school recognised by Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education.

•Family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum.

•Must have a valid bank account in a Scheduled Bank linked with Aadhaar and mobile number.

•Must NOT be receiving any other scholarship.

•Scholarship is available for one year per class only. If a student repeats a class, they will NOT get the scholarship for that class again. Renewal is possible when promoted to the next class.

Eligibility Criteria – Post-Matric ST Scholarship Assam 2026 (Class XI to PG)

•Must belong to Scheduled Tribe (ST) as specified for the State of Assam (Domicile State).

•Must have passed Matriculation, Higher Secondary, or any higher examination of a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education.

•Family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum.

•Must have a valid Scheduled Bank account linked with Aadhaar and mobile number.

•Must NOT be receiving any other scholarship. Scholarship is for recognised post-matriculation courses at Government / UGC-recognised / AICTE-approved / Deemed / Private institutions with NAAC/NBA accreditation and other recognised institutions.

Post-Matric Scholarship is available at the following types of institutions:

✔Central/State University & UGC Autonomous Colleges [2(f) & 12(b)]

✔Deemed Universities

✔Private Universities with NAAC ‘A’ grade or equivalent NBA accreditation

✔Govt./Govt. Aided Schools (Class XI–XII)

✔Diploma Institutions recognised by State/UT Govts.

✔Vocational Training Institutes affiliated to NCVT

✔MCI/AICTE/regulatory body approved institutions

Click on the “New Registration” link on the homepage. Enter your details as required and complete registration.

After registration, log in with your credentials and fill in the online application form for the ST Scholarship (Pre-Matric or Post-Matric as applicable).

Upload all required documents (Aadhaar, Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, Bank Passbook, Marksheet, etc.) in the specified format.

Click Submit and take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference. Ensure your institute completes verification before 6 November 2026.
