The official Assam JNV Admission 2027 notification for Class VI has been released by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). Students currently studying in Class V during the 2026–27 academic session can apply online for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST 2027). The registration portal opened on 7 July 2026 and the final deadline to apply is 10 August 2026. Candidates must have a birth date between 1 May 2015 and 31 July 2017 (inclusive) to be eligible. The pen-and-paper entrance examination is scheduled to take place across all 30 JNVs in Assam on 28 November 2026 at 11:30 AM, featuring multiple regional language options including Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, and Garo.

Assam JNV Admission 2027 – Overview
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test 2027 (JNVST 2027) for admission into Class VI for the academic session 2027–28. Students currently studying in Class V who wish to join Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in Assam must apply online between 7 July 2026 and 10 August 2026 at navodaya.gov.in. The application is completely free of charge.
There are 29 + 1 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Assam across various districts. JNVs are co-educational residential schools spread across 27 States and 8 Union Territories, fully financed and administered by the Government of India through NVS. Education at JNV is free including board, lodging, uniform, and textbooks.
⚠ One Attempt Only: No candidate is eligible to appear in the JNVST for a second time under any circumstances. Apply carefully and prepare well.

Eligibility Criteria – Assam JNV Admission 2027
Eligibility Conditions
•Geo Location: A candidate can apply only for the JNV in the district where they are a bona fide resident and currently studying in Class V.
•Age Limit: Candidate must have been born between 01 May 2015 and 31 July 2017 (both dates inclusive). Applicable to all categories including SC/ST/OBC.
•Educational Qualification: Must be studying in Class V for the whole of the academic session 2026–27 in a Government / Government-aided or other recognised school or ‘B’ Certificate course of NIOS in the same district where admission is sought.
•One Attempt Only: No candidate is eligible to appear in JNVST for a second time under any circumstances.
•Rural Quota: At least 75% of seats are filled by candidates from rural areas. The candidate must have studied Class III, IV, and V (full sessions) in Government/Govt. Aided/Govt.-recognised schools in rural areas of the same district.
JNVST 2027 Exam Pattern – Class VI
The selection test is of 2-hour duration (11:30 AM to 1:30 PM) with 80 objective-type questions for 100 marks, divided into 3 sections:

How to Apply for Assam JNV Admission 2027?
Applications can be submitted free of cost online at navodaya.gov.in. Follow these steps:

Click the Online Application Form link in the Important Links section below to go to the official NVS admission portal.

Tick on “Have you read the prospectus?” and click Proceed.

The online application form will open. Fill in all the required details (student details, class, school, district, etc.) carefully.

In the Upload Document section, upload the required documents (photograph, signature, etc.).

Click Save & Preview to review all details in the form.

Click “Submit Your Application”. On successful submission, a Registration Number and acknowledgment receipt will be generated. Save this for future reference.
✅ Verification Note: Verification of proofs for residence, age, and eligibility will be done for selected candidates only through the laid-down procedure after declaration of results. Documents need not be submitted during application.
JNVST 2027 Result & Admission Process
•JNVST 2027 Result is expected to be announced in March 2027 on the NVS application portal.
•Results will also be displayed at the concerned JNV, District Education Officer, District Magistrate’s office, Deputy Commissioner NVS Region, and on navodaya.gov.in.
•Provisionally selected candidates will be informed via SMS on the registered mobile number followed by speed post from the concerned JNV Principal.
•The entire admission process for session 2027–28 will be closed latest by 31 August 2027.
