CSIR ASO Recruitment 2026 – Overview

The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) has released an official notification for the recruitment of 100 Assistant Section Officer (ASO) posts under Group B (Non-Gazetted) across three categories: General, Finance & Accounts, and Stores & Purchase. Online applications are open from 23 June 2026 to 13 July 2026.

This recruitment is exclusively open to non-recommended candidates of the Civil Services Examination 2024 (CSE-2024) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), as per the list available on the UPSC Pratibha Setu Portal. Selection Process – CSIR ASO Recruitment 2026

Screening & Shortlisting
Applications will be screened and candidates shortlisted tentatively in a 1:5 ratio (5 times the vacancies in each category, subject to minimum 5). Shortlisting is based on total marks (Mains + Personality Test) obtained in UPSC CSE-2024 as mentioned in the UPSC Mark Sheet.

Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)
Shortlisted candidates must appear in the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) conducted by CSIR. Qualifying in the CPT is mandatory for further consideration. Candidates who do not qualify the CPT will not be considered for final selection.

Final Selection
Final selection will be made on the basis of total marks (Mains + Personality Test) obtained in UPSC CSE-2024, subject to qualifying/securing minimum threshold marks in the CPT.
