The Higher Education Department, Government of Assam has launched Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme 2.0 (2026) to encourage female students to pursue higher education and reduce dropout rates. Under this flagship initiative, eligible girl students domiciled in Assam studying in Class 11 (Higher Secondary First Year), Graduation (First Year), and Post-Graduation/B.Ed. (First Year) in government or venture institutions receive monthly financial assistance of ₹800, ₹1,250, and ₹2,500 respectively (up to ₹25,000 per academic year via DBT). Eligible applicants can obtain and submit offline application forms through their educational institutions between 6th August 2026 and 14th August 2026.

The Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme, also known as Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Asoni, is a flagship welfare scheme of the Government of Assam aimed at encouraging girl students to continue their education and pursue higher studies. The scheme seeks to reduce the dropout rate among girl students across the state by providing direct monthly financial assistance.
Under this scheme, eligible female students studying at the Higher Secondary, Graduation, and Postgraduate levels in government and provincialized educational institutions receive monthly financial support to help continue their studies and reduce the financial burden on their families.
The scheme was first launched on 6 October 2024. The Nijut Moina Scheme 2.0 for the year 2026 has officially resumed with the launch of the Application Form Distribution Programme on 6 August 2026 in Guwahati. Students meeting the eligibility criteria can collect and submit the application form through their respective educational institutions.

Eligible girl students receive monthly financial assistance based on their level of study, transferred directly to their bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for a maximum of 10 months in an academic year. No assistance is payable during June, July, or vacation periods exceeding one month.

How to Apply for Nijut Moina Scheme 2026
Collect the application form from your educational institution or the designated distribution centre.
Read the instructions carefully and fill in your personal, educational, and bank account details correctly.
Attach the required documents with the duly completed application form.
Submit the application form to your institution within the prescribed deadline of 14 August 2026.
The Registrars/Principals will verify the details and supporting documents through their respective portals and submit correct data for auto verification.
Once verified and approved, the monthly financial assistance will be transferred directly to the registered bank account through DBT.
From the second year onwards, no fresh application is needed — a continuity certificate from the head of the institution is sufficient for continuing benefits.
