Punjab National Bank (PNB) has released the official notification for the recruitment of 545 Local Bank Officers (LBO) in JMGS-I scale across 17 states. Out of the total vacancies, 85 posts are for Assam, which is the highest allotment among all states. Candidates applying for Assam must be proficient in Assamese or Bodo, since the post is designed for officers who will serve within their own state.
The online application window is open from 20 July 2026 to 9 August 2026. A candidate can apply for the vacancy of only one state, and selected officers will remain posted in that state until they complete 9 years of service or get promoted to SMG Scale IV, whichever is earlier — making LBO an attractive bank officer role without frequent transfers outside Assam.

Online Written Test Pattern – PNB LBO 2026
The Online Written Test consists of 5 sections with a total of 150 questions and 150 marks, to be completed in 180 minutes:
Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
Candidates who have not studied the local language (Assamese or Bodo for Assam) as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12 must appear for the LLPT, which tests reading, writing and speaking. It is qualifying in nature, but candidates who fail will be treated as ineligible for final selection, even after clearing the written test and interview. Those who studied the language in Class 10 or 12 are exempted, subject to documentary proof.

Click “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” and enter your basic details to get the provisional registration number and password.
Fill the application form carefully — no change is permitted after clicking COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
Upload photograph (20–50kb), live photo capture, signature, thumb impression, handwritten declaration and required documents.
Pay the fee: ₹1,180/- (UR/EWS/OBC) or ₹59/- (SC/ST/PwBD) online and wait for server confirmation without pressing Back or Refresh.
Take a printout of the e-receipt and application form for future reference. Do not send it to the Bank.
