Divyangjan Scholarship 2026 – Overview
The Directorate of Social Justice & Empowerment, Assam has released the official notification for the Divyangjan Scholarship 2026. This centrally sponsored scheme is offered by the Department of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for the academic year 2026–27.
These scholarships are available for students with a benchmark disability of 40% or more. The scheme covers three types of scholarships: Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, and Top Class Education. Eligible candidates can apply online at www.scholarships.gov.in.

Eligibility Criteria for Divyangjan Scholarship 2026

Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

Disability Certificate: Applicant must have a minimum of 40% disability with a valid disability certificate issued by the competent medical authority.
✔
Family Restriction: Not more than two disabled children of the same parents are entitled to receive benefits. (Exception: both twins are eligible if the second child is a twin.)

Other Scholarships: A scholarship holder under this scheme cannot hold any other scholarship/stipend simultaneously. If awarded another, the student must choose the more beneficial one and inform the awarding authority.

Income Ceiling (Pre & Post-Matric): Parental/guardian income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 Lakhs per annum.

Income Ceiling (Top Class Education): Parental/guardian income from all sources must not exceed ₹8 Lakhs per annum.
How to Apply for Divyangjan Scholarship 2026
Candidates must visit the official National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in to submit their application. Follow the steps below:

Scroll Down to Important Web Links — On the homepage of scholarships.gov.in, scroll down to the “Important Web Links” section.

One-Time Registration — Click on the “One-Time Registration” link. A new page will open. Enter your details and register yourself on the portal.

Login to Application Form — After registration, click on “Online Application Form” and log in using your credentials.

Fill the Application Form & Upload Documents — Enter all required credentials and upload the necessary documents as specified on the portal.

Submit & Take Printout — Finally, click “Submit” and take a printout of your submitted application form for future reference.

📄 For Scholarship Amount Below ₹50,000 (Submit to School/Institution)
(i)Aadhaar ID or Aadhaar enrollment receipt (if Aadhaar not available)
(ii)Disability certificate issued by competent authority designated by the District Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon of a Govt. Hospital
(iii)Parental income certificate issued by the designated authority (duly signed by revenue authority; Form 16 is not acceptable)
(iv)Copy of previous year mark sheet
(v)Tuition fee receipt

(i)Student photograph
(ii)Scanned copy of parental income certificate (duly signed by revenue authority/Tehsildar; Form 16 is not acceptable)

(iv)Scanned copy of disability certificate issued by the competent authority designated by the District Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon of a Govt. Hospital
